1935 Jubilee Crown "Rocking Horse" KM842 R E D U C E D!!!

One of the most striking designs ever produced by the always conservative British. One year type to celebrate the silver anniversary of George V.

The obverse features the standard Mackennal portrait of the king.

The reverse, however, features the traditional St. George slaying the dragon in a very un-traditional conceptualization by Percy Metcalf. The king himself apparently hated it, as did many contemporary critics. But it's now considered to be a high water mark of Art Deco design.

It was also the first true commemorative ever issued by Great Britain. And the mintage was a scant 715,000 pieces. Additional info can be found in this short coin world article:
