PCGS has graded a total of 91 of this 1st year of issue of New Orleans Seated Half, with a total of only 10 graded in Mint State, and MS65 finest.

The reverse die for the initial New Orleans striking of the Liberty Seated design wasn't delivered to New Orleans in a timely fashion, so a leftover reverse of 1838 (from the Capped Bust Reeded Edge design) was used initially.

A very challenging variety to locate in most surviving grades. Ranked 2nd in rarity for early Branch Mint half dollars, with only the 1842-O Small Date / Small Letters Reverse of 1839 ranked higher.

$1,575 cash equivalent(bullion trades welcome) + Registered Mail fee.
