1998 Canadian Dime Strange Anomaly

My son found this 1998 Canada dime in the Coinstar reject slot recently and of course being the coin dork that I am, I had to look at it under the microscope. It's beat up but found this raised perfectly circular die dot in the date. Things being a little slow on the coin front this summer for me I figured I'd keep it and call it a punctuated date. Not really sure what it is. Sadly it's the little things in numismatics that do it for me.

it looks like a die chip. If you look closely, there appear to be more than one on the coin.
Further, if you really wish to be detailed, have a close look at both 9s... they are considerably different from oneanother, and it does not look like PMD, but maybe another die?
Cool views, though.

This was the first thing I noticed, as well. There are earlier dimes with large date / small date variety due to design flaws, such as the 1969 Large Schooner, but nothing in my book about 1998 Bluenose. From Charlton ...
Designer and Modeller: Dora de Pédery-Hunt, Ago Aarand (obv); and Emanuel Hahn (rev)

"In 1993, the practice of using a single date was resumed. The transition to beads from rim denticles which began in 1982 on the cent was completed on the dime in 1993. The Winnipeg Mint mark (W) is found only on coins from the "Oh! Canada" and "Tiny Treasures" sets issued by the Numismatic dept. of the Mint."
