SOLD- thanks. Love tokens on NM Seated Liberty halves

I say "one of two" is for sale here, because I have two No Motto Seated half love tokens in my "Oddball" exonumia type set, and I really only need one.

When one of these sells, I will keep the other. Take your pick of one or the other at $99 delivered.

*** THE FIRST COIN HAS SOLD. I AM KEEPING THE SECOND. ***

First up is an 1878 mourning token engraved on an 1858 half dollar host coin.

The engraving, while it doesn't contain any pictorial elements, is quite proficiently done.

The interest in this one is the backstory I discovered about it, however.

I thought it was a birth/christening token at first, but then I discovered it is a mourning token, for an L. Frank Gray who died on that date, while aboard a moving train!

Next up is a piece that pretty apparently has a Civil War connection. Note the fortress-shaped frame around the central pictorial image. Inside that there is a scene of a bridge- possibly a pontoon bridge- crossing a river. Could this be a scene from something like the Wilderness campaign of 1864, as the date on the host coin indicates? It's hard to say, but this one definitely has an intriguing story waiting to be uncovered. The old pinback attachment is a bit unsightly, but can likely be removed. I posted a thread about that and might look into getting it conserved if I end up keeping this piece. That might be too expensive, but I do think it's worth looking into, because this is a very special and unique love token. I don't need to tell you that it is quite unusual.
