1966 Topps Baseball Reprints

I want to verify that my 1966 Topps baseball cards are not reprints. I understand Topps made 11 reprinted 1966 baseball cards that are identical front and back to the original cards. The reprints I know of are Mays, Mantle, Rose, Koufax, Palmer, Jenkins, Clemente, Aaron, G. Perry, Williams and McCovey. I am sending my 11 cards to PSA for them to be authenticated.

My question, does anybody know of any other 1966 Topps Baseball reprints that are identical front and back to the originals?

Thanks in advance !

Yes, I have seen them. They are not hard to tell the difference. They have too much of a shine and the picture is a little blury and slightly larger on the card. I don't think topps made these reprints as topps would have said reprint on them. These that I am speaking of were out right fakes

Here is a link to a 1966 reprint set that sold out at Amazon, this is nine cards, but I know of 11 reprints exact front and back.

  • Yikes. Except for the 2 Mantle & Mays cards with different photos, those are pretty close to the originals.

Check the 1966 Mantle and Mays again, those reprints are the exact same photos that were issued in 1966.

I think he meant the alternative cards. The most obvious is the McCovey. Too much deep green. But, those do look good enough to fool just about anyone.

Yes. That is what I meant.

Ok, sorry for the confusion, I was focused on the cards that were exact reprints, front and back made by Topps. As I said, so far I have been able to find 11 1966 reprints and wanted to know if anyone was an expert in 1966 Topps baseball that could verify if their were more than 11 reprint cards made.

    Thanks for your input.

Welcome and ...Wow! I did not know of these. I can't wait to see what PSA does with these. Please let us know of the outcome. Yikes is right!

These reprints should NOT make it past the graders.

I agree, that's why I am having my cards that I've had since 1966 graded, to prove they are not reprints to add value to my set, which I plan on selling. I'm not sure if Topps made more than 11 exact reprints and was hoping someone on this forum would know .

How do you upload a image from your PC to the forum. I have a jpg of all 11 reprints I would like to post.

    Thanks in advance !

You have to host the photos on a 3rd party site (i.e. PhotoBucket) and link it over here. If using PhotoBucket, copy the Direct link, click the little photo icon (between Underline and http) when composing a post here, and paste the link.
