1960 Portugal $5 $10 $20 Silver Coins Stamped PROVA

Ive had these in my World coin type box for a few years now and never really put much thought into them. I know the PROVA stamp signifies them as Specimens.

My question is how rare are these and how were they originally issued?

I was lucky enough to pick these from melt for myself, so have minimal investment. Not that I intend to sell them, they are so nice as a set and a great place holder as my only Portuguese coins.

The Standard Catalog lists them but without mintages. Values range from $150 to $265 unless the $5 is in matte finish when it jumps to $400. Great pickups at melt no matter what.

Sorry forgot I had posted this.

The coins do have nice luster but is muted slightly, I could treat the surfaces with CoinCare haven't gotten around to it.
I wouldnt call the $5 matte same brilliant luster as the rest.
