My first national thoughts

I didn't want to hijack anyone's thread so I figured I would share my National experience.
The location was great for myself as it is only a 3.5 hour drive and I stay at the Borgata and get a pretty nice room rate since I play poker there a few times a year.
I did the VIP package and liked the idea that you could actually get free autographs (as that seems to be a thing of the past at shows) and I am not someone who gets to excited throwing out some of the big $$$ that many signers cost today. I was there Wednesday (opening to close) and Friday (opening to early afternoon) but would still do the VIP package again.
My main buying focus were M116 Sporting Life and Starting Lineups (regional 88-89 type stuff which was non existent at the show). For as many museum type displays as the room had (like the display case that had 2 T206 Planks) there really wasn't the selection of M116s I thought there would be, and what was there was overpriced lower grade or the NM Cobb/Wagner's that were also overpriced.
Other things I wanted to do at the show....
1. I was considering getting the '32 Cardinals signed newspaper photo authenticated. JSA wanted $200 to do it - I am not selling it anytime soon so I passed.
2. I was hoping to consign a tough non-sports card ('52 Bowman Presidents #1 PSA 8 - pop 1 highest graded) but I couldn't make up my mind where the best place for that item would be as I am still unsure what company is bet for non-sports.
3. I was considering selling a 1979 Topps Football box but the buy and sell price gap was so wide it was better to pay the 5% to have it wrapped and sell myself.
It still turned out to be a fun trip. Gene Michael was at my table playing poker Friday afternoon (he did not know anything about the show) and there was a Pete Rose sighting that evening at the Borgata racebook room (shocker I know). I also found a few good buys at the Columbus flea market on the return trip today.
Will be back. But it will be Baltimore or Atlantic City for me.
