I always see you posting notes with really really fancy serial numbers. What type of job do you have that lets you get so many wonderful notes? Or do you just buy them all?

    I like to think CMCART is a rich investor who comes from old money and just likes to spend their time buying notes and posting them on this forum.... image



    At least that's what I wish I could do.....



    The reality is with time, even small investments in notes can add up to a very large and impressive collection. I've been buying a couple new depression scrip notes almost every week for the last 25 years. Each purchase is usually pretty small, but over 25 years, I've amassed a very impressive collection that there is no way I could buy outright now. I couldn't even come close to touching it even now although I have a much better job and pay than I had 25 years ago. Time and patience is the key....

    Closing this specific issue - A modest request - Do not remind me more of this post - I am not a rich man and not a gold tomato and not a silver banana - I have a very modest request reasonable and realistic - I would be very happy if you will not visit my pockets ( like rich or not rich - money no money - Each and its package ) as I will not go into the other pockets - There is a great collectors and great dealers in this forum and I think that post like this will cause them not to present their collections.image

    Seems like a reasonable request for privacy. Maybe the OP should delete this thread altogether?

    I actually read the original question on "what type of job" to mean "does your job (for example, in a large bank or currency distribution center) provide you access to such a great supply of fancy serials or do you have to buy the notes like the rest of us?" I did not see it as an inquiry on how wealthy someone is (or isn't).

    Over the years there have been a number of threads, as well as written comments in sales fliers by currency dealers like Mike Abramson, on establishing contacts among major bank employees, delivery/distribution centers, foreign currency offices (they move the most $100's), etc. It is pretty fascinating. These sources flourish and often dry up.
