Post National Group Break

Seams like every year a week or so after the National there is a group break of BBCE product. Any plans for that this year? Hopefully we can get some near show special pricing on some product.

Trying to get a DURING National break going tomorrow like we did 2 years ago. Will be going by BBCE booth in the morning and then reporting on what is available to the board.

Will need to reserve slots quickly, as until we are "full" on any item we cannot expect BBCE to withdraw it from sale. Hope to have the available items listed by early afternoon with requests starting at the usual 9PM Friday evening.

    Stay tuned

I sent Steve an email about this very subject about 3 weeks ago. He is up for it If we want to do something through him. Whether it is a case break or box break. He may have picked up some good stuff at national too.
  • Are you only doing this with members present?

No, it would be open to all on the CU boards. Either way, during or after the National, would be fine with me. If David can set things up, that would be a bonus.

2 years ago we were able to break the 1979 wax tray case. Perhaps this year we should try for the 1978 cello case?

Let's see what he has when I get there and then I'll let everyone know with a posting what is still available.

Needless to say we will NOT be breaking the 86 Fleer BKB box

78 cello case sounds like a lot of fun, David. Keep us posted! image

I'm interested in something like this, but my funds this month have gone to other pursuits (mainly my 54 Aaron pickup), so picking up a $1200 box is out of reach for me. However, if there are enough people interested, I would be interested in doing a box break with one of the boxes in the case.

  • I'm in for the '78 cello case or the '79 rack case he has on his site. There's also a '79 rack box FASC that's on eBay available if there aren't enough participants to warrant breaking a case.

I'm definitely interested in all of the above. Probably headed back over to the show later today if there's onsite in person coordination happening. Thanks!

As of right now the only real choices are the 1978 cello case and the 1975 rack box

HOWEVER, there is strong likelihood that there will be another 1978 and 1979 rack case available tomorrow.

I will start a thread later for reserving slots. As long as we fill it before Steve can sell it at the show he will pull whatever
    We fill for us.

Does anyone know whether the '78 cello case was sealed? I see it says that the 15 boxes are wrapped. Sometimes that means the case wasn't sealed.

Dave - great seeing you today and catching up. Also, appreciate your helping out with setting up the breaks in thread. I think it goes without saying that we are very fortunate to have some elite guys on this board when it comes to unopened items. Grote15(Tim) and 70 Topps(Dave) are as good as it comes in the hobby when it comes to knowledge of unopened Topps cards. I would say it very comfortably that I would buy anything either one of these guys suggested sight unseen and have done so - if they say it is good run with it.

I stopped by the booth to pick up boxes that were being wrapped earlier today and confirmed case was not sealed. 1200 per before any potential discount seems like an attractive price.

Curious as to whether the previous owner kept this case intact without cherry picking. Seems plausible.

I would be interesting in breaking up a box of 78s

I'd prefer FASC and will pay the premium. I'm interested but confused as to what is available at what price and if it's Frankenstein.

Yep, count me in too. I was just thinking about a group purchase. I have been in quite of few of these on this board, but none in several years. I would like to see some 81's and 83's as well.
