Does eBay "Buy it Now" Require Immediate Payment Now?

Hi folks,

I may be missing something here, but is it now required to pay immediately for all ebay "Buy it Now" listings when you purchase the item? In the past you had a few days to make payment after doing the "Buy it Now" but it seems like the system no longer seems to allow that as far as I can tell. As soon as you click the "Buy it Now" it takes you to a screen where you have to complete payment to finish the transaction?

It is up to the seller

I cannot past the image, but there is a subsection called

"Decide how you like to be paid"

There is a section for the paypal and paypal email, and right below it, is a box to check for immediate payment on buy it now.

    I always have that checked.

Why would one click a Buy it Now and not pay for it immediately? Now means now not in a few days.

    I almost always pay immediately.

Unless it is a HUGE purchase and I need a day or two to transfer funds from one of my accounts to another.

Besides, the quicker you pay, then the quicker you get your item.

I've had them wait 4, 5 days til their money was available. I have an unpaid notice go out after like 7 days. No big deal.

They Buy it Now to get it for their own, doesn't mean they have the cash right then and there.

Some buyers, especially those that buy allot of items from various sellers, like to have the optional to pay all sellers at one time. Some biggers buyers like to pay all at once at the end of the day too.

If a seller opts not to select immediate payment required, and a buyer uses the BIN button, the item remains available to other potential buyers until the item is paid for. The simplest option for a BIN item without the "Make an Offer" option is to place the item in your eBay shopping cart until ready to pay. If it gets purchased by someone else in the interim, thats the way the cookie crumbles.

Most sellers offer "combine shipping" to reduce costs to the buyer, so if a buyer
is required to pay for all items as they click on them, then they overpay for shipping.
Refunding buyers for shipping overpayment is time consuming and a pain.

Actually I think it has something to do with when a member joined ebay. I do not require immediate payment and have had several people wanting to by something and pay later but ebay required immediate payment!

As to combined shipping you have to use the shopping cart.

I thought that I read somewhere that the item is still available for purchase until the buyer pays for the item. image

    I think that this is the link, I cannot open ebay addresses at work;

It is an option for seller.

I don't require immediate pay. I state in listings payment expected in 3 days.

On items purchase I usually pay immediately or same day at latest.

Almost all buyers pay as I do.

Pay the seller immediately or within 24 hours. These could be people forced onto early retirement who need the money pay expenses / in survival mode.
