Cataracts and Stamps Don't Mix

Recovering from cataract surgery on both eyes. Both eyes were set for far vision by the Dr. despite me needing near vision 90% of the time. I did not know my eyes could be set for near vision until one was already done. Filled out a questionnaire before surgery so he should have known that I needed near vision much more than far vision.

Can see far but cannot see near.

Bought some magnifier glasses to try to work with my hobbies including stamps.

Bought a cheap Walmart magnifier lamp.

Cannot find anything that lets me see a stamp clearly anymore.

Anybody have any experience and a solution to this?

Is there a hobby pair of glasses that the optomotosaurus can make for me?

Thanks,

Roy, you should post this question on the coin forum. There is a ton of activity there and the vision challenge you have is more likely to be shared by penny and dime collectors!

I share your problems when it comes to coins, reading the newspaper, or even working on the computer. Use regular vision glasses for normal use, and reading/PC glasses for the up-close work. Not ideal, but lets me get by. But the problem has made the hobby (and attending coin shows or shopping at Thrift stores (both which I used to enjoy) mostly a chore these days........ Best of luck!
