MLB Stadiums

I didn't want to jack Mike's thread on HOFs, so I figured I would just post a new topic. Going off of his question of which HOFs he has seen play, what about the stadiums you have been to.

Also, throw in the approximate year(s) you visited the stadium, because many have been updated or torn down and rebuilt a number of times.

Oakland-Alameda Co. Stadium (1984-1989)

Candlestick Park (1986-1989)

Royals Stadium (1990-1991)

Busch Memorial Stadium (1991)

Arlington Stadium (1992)

Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium (1993-1996)

Turner Field (1997-Current)

Wrigley Field (2001, 2014)

Comiskey Park II/US Cellular Field (2001-2006)

Yankee Stadium (2014)

Nationals Park (2013-2015)

    Not that many

    * Holy Ground, aka Dodger Stadium (numerous times, starting in 1990)
    * Candlestick Park (numerous times, starting probably around 1985-ish)
    * Oakland Coliseum (numerous times, starting probably around 1986-ish)
    * Safeco Field (2010)
    * the Phone Booth, aka Pacific Bell Park, SBC Park, AT&T Park (numerous times, starting in 2000)

ETA: forgot all about the Phone Booth - added to the bottom of the list.

    Making me really old?

I've been to the '23 Yankee Stadium and Polo Grounds.

Then did go to Shea and was a regular at the '76 Yankee Stadium while in school at Columbia U.

The bleachers were $1.50 and I was fortunate enough to see one the greater Yankee teams of the late 70s.

I have not been to too many, but hoping to hit a lot more in the (near) future if I decide to live full time in a Motor Home. Time will tell.

POLO GROUNDS - The first major league stadium I was ever in. My dad brought me to a Met game in 1963 when I was 5 years old. I still have the yearbook he bought me that day.

SHEA STADIUM - I've been a New Yawka my entire life. The stadium I have visited most often. Probably went for the first time in the mid 60's with my dad.

YANKEE STADIUM - Probably been to only about a half dozen times. Most memorable was in either '67 or '68. Went with my dad, my friends and their father and grandfather. Their grandfather was friends with a lot of the players. He asked me if I wanted a ball and I said yes. He walked down to the dugout ... spoke with some of the players (including Mickey Mantle) ... and 15 minutes later came back to our seats and handed me a ball signed by the team. Yes, it included THE MICK and I still have the ball to this day.

FENWAY PARK - After graduating from Law School here on Long Island, I went to Boston U Law School for my LL.M. in '83-'84. Saw a couple of games here.

OLYMPIC STADIUM - In 1986 a few friends a I flew to Montreal to watch the Mets play the Expos for 3 games. We were hoping to be at the pennant clinching game, but it took until the Met's following series before they clinched it.

PETCO PARK - In 2004 and 2005 I went to San Diego to run in the San Diego Marathon. Both years I took in a game with some friends 2 days before the race.

CAMDEN YARDS - My daughter began attending Loyola University in Baltimore in 2012 (she recently graduated). The first time we looked at the school in 2011 we were able to take in a game. Each time I visited, I tried to go to a game if they were playing. Have been to about 5 games.

CITIFIELD - Even though I am still a Met fan, have been to only 4-5 games.
    STAY HEALTHY!

    Doug

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

Petco Park, for the All-Star Game, was my 30th major-league stadium. Here's my complete list, in chronological order:

1 Dodger Stadium (Los Angeles, many times including my first MLB game: Twins vs. Dodgers in the 1965 WS!)
    2 The Big A (Anaheim, mid-1970s and Games 1 & 2 of 2002 WS)
3 Jack Murphy Stadium (defunct, San Diego 1977 or 1978)
4 Candlestick Park (defunct, San Francisco 1979 or 1980)
5 Royals Stadium (Kansas City, August 1980)
6 Tiger Stadium (defunct, Detroit, many times during 1980s including 3 of 4 post-season games, 1984)
7 Memorial Stadium (defunct, Baltimore June 1986)
8 Wrigley Field (Chicago, Mother's Day 1991 & 8/1/13 w/my son at the Chicago National)
    9 SkyDome (Toronto, April 1993)
10 Orioles' Park at Camden Yards (Baltimore, May 1993)
11 Veterans' Stadium (defunct, Philadelphia, May 1993)
12 Yankee Stadium (defunct, New York, May 1993)
13 Shea Stadium (defunct, New York, May 1993)
14 Memorial Stadium (defunct, Cleveland, July 1993)
15 Riverfront Stadium (defunct, Cincinnati, August 1997)
16 Turner Field (Atlanta, September 1997)
    17 Fenway Park (Boston, August 14, 1999)
18 PNC Park (Pittsburgh, August 8, 2001 - in my opinion the prettiest of the next-gen ballparks)
    19 Comerica Park (Detroit, July 12, 2002)
20 Great American Ballpark (Cincinnati, July 4, 2003)
21 PacBell Park (San Francisco, July 24, 2003, Bonds' 39th b-day: threw out go-ahead run in top of 9th, hit GW homer on 1st pitch in bottom of 9th)
22 Tropicana Field (Tampa Bay, April 17, 2004. By far, the ugliest MLB stadium I've ever attended.)
    23 Jacobs Field (Cleveland, July 23, 2004)
    24 Miller Park (Milwaukee, July 28, 2005)
25 Busch Stadium (defunct, St. Louis, August 20, 2005)
26 Citizens Bank Park (Philadelphia, March 31, 2007)
    27 U.S. Cellular Field (Chicago, August 4, 2011)
28 New Yankee Stadium (New York, Oct. 1, 2011, Game 1 of ALDS: Yankees 9-3 over Tigers; Cano 3-5, 6 RBI w/GS, 2 RBI doubles)
29 Safeco Field (Seattle, June 6, 2015, "King Felix" beat the Rays 2-1 for his MLB-leading 9th victory.)
30 Petco Park (San Diego, July 12, 2016, All-Star Game with my Dad and son)

Shea in 60's,Yankee Stadium 70's, Fenway, Phillies once in 60's, and Park Jarry in Montreal to see Mets/ LeMontreal Expos. The only reason I remember it so well was because we (Dad/I) were at the game when the first moon landing took place. They posted it on the scoreboard. Big roar of the crowd commenced upon the news. As I recall the stadium seated less than 30k. Still wish I had the scorecards for those games. Been to minor league parks in Portland,Or. Kansas, Oneonta, Rochester. Spring training-Cactus league.

    Great thread!

    My list is:

Atlanta Fulton County Stadium 1979 to 1996
    Turner Field 1997 to present
    Fenway Park 1996
Yankee Stadium several times 1994 to close
    Camden Yards
AT&T/Pac Bell Park couple of times
Oakland Coliseum don't remember the year off hand - Piazza's last year as he was with A's
    Tropicana Field 2010 I think
    Minute Maid Park
    Ballpark at Arlington
    Chase Field
Shea Stadium last year of Shea
    Wrigley Field
    U S Cellular Field
    Citizens Bank Park
Progressive Field though it wasn't called that then - was somewhere in mid 90s
Busch Stadium - hottest game I've ever attended and I regularly go to games in Atlanta
    Great American Ball Park
Nationals Park - saw Randy Johnson's 300th win in a double header that day

I've seen but not been to a game at Citi Field, New Yankee Stadium and Coors Field

I'll add a wrinkle to the thread. My favorite stadium is tougher than my least favorite. Favorite so far would be AT&T/Pac Bell. Nothing like the smell of garlic fries and looking out at the bay. Awesome stadium. Least favorite is close between the Trop and Oakland Coliseum. Trop was so bland and industrial. Oakland Coliseum I'll never forget the razor wire outside the stadium. It was like Longest Yard baseball version.

Been to dozens of Mariner games at the Kingdome from 1983 until 1991. Used to receive "good student" tickets throughout the school years - these were free tickets to 6 games per year in the outfield seats. However, the stadium was always so empty with lax security that you could easily make your way to the first or third baseline areas without question. Keep in mind, this was mostly in an era when the team had yet to have a winning season and most press releases were focused on moving the team to Tampa Bay. Hell, they were terrible! Although a broadcaster by the name of Dave Niehaus had an uncanny way of keeping a young man like me fully vested in such a lackluster team for so many years.

I was, like many nostalgic twenty-somethings, on hand for the implosion of the Kingdome in March of 2000. It was impressive, to say the least.

The Kingdome was the epitome of a 'no-frills' stadium, offering little beyond its terrible acoustics and grey concrete interior. It was also the epitome of county government mismanagement in its 24 short years of existence. It was built for the cost of about $30 million, yet King County mortgaged it to the hilt - owing over $100 million on the property at time of demolition.

Some great lists some of you have compiled.
I've been to Yankee Stadium (the prior one and the current one), Shea Stadium, Veterans Stadium in Philly, Citizens Bank Park in Philly (very nice), Memorial Stadium in Baltimore, Oriole Park at Camden Yards (the prototype of the modern stadium and still very nice) and Tropicana Field in Tampa (comment withheld).

Side note: My wife and I drove Route 66 for our honeymoon with no real time table of when we'd reach LA. We had planned to stay in LA for a few night with hopes of seeing a Dodgers, Angels, or even Padres game. When we got out there, all three teams were on the road. What are the odds?!
