1839/8 Eagle. PCGS graded AU58.
Type of 1838.
A dramatically different two year type, and quite difficult to find.
Only a handful of specimens have been graded higher, including the magnificent MS66 specimen last sold in 2005 for $400k. This specimen is a rich lemon gold, with no distractions or detractions.
It has been off the market since the early 1990's, when my customer purchased it in a Superior auction.
$16,500.
