How does this card get a numerical grade?

They're inconsistent with that, for sure. I have some Venz with missing pieces that got numeric grades, but others with severe paper loss on back that they wouldn't holder. I have a pre war Jimmy foxx with holes punched in it that only got "A." But I thought others with paper loss (including torn corners) should get the same.

None whatsoever, both are worth a 1 on the registry and value comes down to eye appeal. Missing chunks will always be worth a lot less than a simple pinhole.
