Has a reholder request ever been denied?

Has anyone ever sent in a PSA graded card to be reholdered in the new case and have PSA tell them the card does not actually deserve to have that grade?

It has not happened to me, I am just curious what PSA would do if they saw an obviously over graded card.

They will reholder at lower grade and reimburse you for the difference, assuming the holder has not been compromised.

  • I did send in a pricey card once in an 8 and they called me and said that the card appears to have been tampered with. They paid me out for what I purchased the card two years prior (which was better than nothing) but I actually felt that that was a bit unfair since the price had risen and it was not my error but theirs and they should have paid me out for it's current selling value.
