55 Koufax and Williams... Is this worth it?

So I messaged someone about an ad they had for a few cards and he responded that he no longer has them but just got these two and he's looking to get $1,400 for them... I'm just getting back into this hobby (especially older cards) so I need some advice... Is this a good price raw or no?

  • I think that at $1400 you'd be vastly overpaying.

The Williams looks to be in EX+ condition which if graded by PSA would be about $200+

The Koufax looks to be in EX- condition, which could be anywhere from $500-$900.

Even so, you are taking all risk as to if they are trimmed and that they dont have any minor surface damage, which can be very difficult (***near impossible) to see in a scan.

I'd rather take that $1400 and by two PSA 5's and still have a few hundred to buy another card.

Excellent advice by wilkie. They are nice cards but not worth $1,400.

I agree with the above posters as well. I even think the cards may be worth less than Wilkie suggests. IMO that Koufax might get graded a "4" by PSA, which would make it a $500.00 card. The Williams a "5", which puts it at $200.00.

Great advice to buy those 2 cards already graded "PSA 5" (which should be better than the ones being offered to you) and still have an extra couple hundred dollars to spend on something else.
