        Ken,

Sure that's not an ultra-rare Chain cent with mild corrosion?

Gently to Mild I would Say. Still should Go VF35 Detail Corroded Net F15. IMHO.

I was Making Fun of Spooly but My Intention when I bought this Last Week was for Him to get it. Envelope was Addressed and Ready to go out. Problem is I don't think this is a Coin. I will try Again and will Get Even with Him for all of the Harassment He has dished out to all of the Excellent Mercury Dime Collectors.

                    Geez-Louise! image

One day, while out with my metal detector at an old house, I dug two half dimes from the same hole.

                    Well, sort of.

They were two halves of the same 194? Mercury dime, that had been melted in a fire until the coin was stretched out to twice normal size. At some point after the coin was melted and then lost in the yard, it broke in two all on its own. (Maybe a winter freeze got it. From one extreme to the other.)

It (they) look a helluva lot better than that... that... thing in your picture. Are you sure that isn't a moldy Ritz cracker?

I think even ACG would have to grade that ABG .001.

                    (ABG= Abomination Before God).

I would first do any analysis to determine if it could be a coin. Most coins are steel, copper, nickel, aluminum, gold or silver. Do a simple specific gravity test or at least see if it will stick to a magnet. Once you determine its material, you can then speculate if it could be a coin.

Let us know what it is made out of.
