Big auction at The National

I have heard bits and pieces of big cards being auctioned at the national but have not seen a full run down yet. Is one available?

There will be an auction in August that starts during the National and ends at the end of the month. I have seen a PSA 10 Rose, a 1956 Mantle PSA 10, and a 1968 Ryan PSA 10 to name a few.

I also heard bbce will be selling a psa graded 98-99 metal universe PMG (planet metal gems) RED Michael Jordan numbered to 90. If anyone remembers, about 6-8 months ago bbce was auctioning off a PMG GREEN Jordan numbered to only 10!

Pretty big Jordan cards and they bring big money too.

I assume you mean 97-98 Precious Metal Gems. The print run was numbered to 100 for red and green with the first 10 being green and the remaining 90 are red.

The National is the location where conveniently, big name rookies cards are being auctioned off because the lesser condition cards have been through the roof. With the way PSA 8's and 9's are going, these PSA 10 rookie cards should go for $1 million each. Saying that, there should be vast amounts of multi millionaires on the sales floor snapping up cards at 10x their going rate.

The amount of intelligence on the show floor this year should far surpass that of any past convention. Anywhere. Ever.

I have a great "at the auction and the National" story.

    1994 National.

Made a call to Greg Manning Auctions - at that time Steve Novella was working for them.

At the end of our talk, Steve asks me to bid on some lots to get things going - not sure who - but they were "encouraged" to hold one at the National.

I bid on like 7 or 8 lots at the minimum bid. I forgot about the whole thing until after the National and I get a call from Steve.

"We've got an invoice for you on lots won" I asked him how many - "All"

    How much was that?: "$5400"

    What?!

My wife is gonna kill me!

If I ever find that invoice - I'm gonna post it here with the cards that came with the auction.

    E.g. 48B Baugh PSA 8; 32US Caramel Cochrane PSA 8; 57T Mantle PSA 8OC...

    Lol...no love for Wally Backman?

Always looking for OPC "tape intact" baseball wax boxes, and 1984 OPC baseball PSA 10's for my set. Please PM or email me if you have any available.

Mike that is absolutely terrible and sorry that happened to you. Very shady and grimy to say the least.
