Here is to great friends

Today I stopped in my hometown and called my old friend who was an avid collector like myself. He was on the way out to the airport but said stop in as he has something for me. I get there and he says that since I am the only one he knows with the holy grail of Mantles, that I deserved to have it. I offer money to him and he wouldn't take it as he says I have always been there when he needed me, truly made my day!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

    Hiya Jason

    That's a really cool piece!

Framed and everything. I've never seen it before - that was very generous of your friend.

    Congratulations buddy.

Thank you all for the kind words. This is the same friend that got me back collecting in college. We would traverse all NC in search of card shops, Kannapolis, Statesville, Charlotte, and Winston Salem among a few. We busted countless boxes together and Classic Signature Rookies comes to mind as I bet we must have opened 20 boxes each! He was always one for a meticulous eye on centering and truly mint cards before TPG came along. Those were the days!

I have seen one of these tributes, copies of all Topps and Bowman cards on a poster, for Ripken and Ashburn and Grich, but had not seen a Mantle. Very neat item. There are a couple on eBay now
    Topps Baseball-1948, 1951 to 2017
    Bowman Baseball -1948-1955
    Fleer Baseball-1923, 1959-2007

Very cool, the back of the poster shows the reverse side of each card too.
