What exactly constitutes a short print?

As you can tell by my signature line, I have been on an endless quest to get this particular card to complete the set. On several checklist sites, it lists this card long with others such as Jordan and Dr. J. as a short print. This particular series isn't number stamped, which brings up my question.

I'm just wondering what "short print" in this example means. Does it mean produced in 30% less quantity? 50%?

In my example, the Legends autos fell bout one per box. I wouldn't call the other players autos rare, so lets just say for sake of argument there are 500 of the non-short prints. Does that mean there are 100 short prints? 50?

But for other non-auto sets, some cards are also noted on checklist sites as short print. Again, what does that mean? I'm trying to gauge how many of these cards are in existence so I know what I'm up against when bidding.

Any feedback from the group would be great and please share your own short-print chase stories.

One good way to determine if a card is a true short print is to look at past eBay sales. If the card has sold many times on eBay, its not a short print.

That Robinson card is probably a true short print.
