How do you come up with declared value? Do you use raw card value from Beckett or do you just use the SMR value of the grade you think they are?

Does your declared value factor into the grade you receive from PSA?

Thanks all!!
Nate

  • I usually consider the price I paid, recent auctions, and SMR. Raw cards are more difficult than crossovers or reviews. For raw, I also consider SMR for the grade I think they are. In the worst case scenario, say a damaged card, I'm pretty sure PSA has its own formula for compensation anyway - others probably know more about this than me. I think its human nature to err on the high side, but I feel like I've always come up with reasonable numbers. And no, I don't think declared value factors into the grade.

Also consider a price that you wouldn't feel awful about getting if the package gets lost.

  • Thanks for the responses. Cleared a few things up for me.

Do declared values have an impact on scoring?

Only asking because I'm trying to figure what I can submit for my CC under $100 declared value special.
