Does holder scratch remover work on the newer PCGS holders?

I have had good luck with the older PCGS holders. Doesn't work very well ( or really not at all) on NGC. I have a coin in the previous to the newest holder, the one with the small hologram with little edge splits and says gold shield when tilted one way and PCGS when tilted the other. I think this is suppose to be scratch resistant but someone managed to scuff up the reverse. I have actually made NGC worse because the plastic is different and I wonder if these newer scratch resistant holders are a type of plastic that will get worse if I try scratch remover on it.

Thanks.

Scratch resistant does not mean scratch-proof. I've removed scratches from new holders with PlastX.

Have found PlastX works on both PCGS and NGC holders.

When the going gets rough time and plenty of this, but never go so fast to build up heat.

  • Just got back from the store with a bottle of Plastx. I'm giving it a try.

There's a lot of rubbing involved if you're doing it by hand so have patience. It all depends on how deep the scratch is.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

Yup. Melted part of a slab one time. Use slow setting for sure!

Good observations. Yes, the newest PCGS holders clean up very nicely with plastic polish. Better than ever, in fact. The version that preceded it is much the same. Scratch resistant, better optics...clearer and less blue.

NGC plastic is always a bear. I avoid it.

    Lance.
  • Just finished. Great results on the newer holder. Tried on a old NGC. Not as good results but at least it's not worse, probably an little better.
