PD Question

General Questions about PD. I have at least 5-6 60s cards at varying high condition levels. They have print marks on them. Without the marks, they would range from Ex-Mt to Mint

1. Is there a rule of thumb of how many grades marks knock down a card (roller marks, ink spots)? Nothing major. Some are barely noticeable and others a little more. Nothing that deters from the look of the card.

I don't have available scans of the cards I'm referring to, but here are some comparable examples. What would these cards grade at without the PDs?

Mild dark print spots...

Mild ink transfer marks...

2. I'm not a huge fan of qualifiers, but I view PD differently then OC/ST/MK/etc/. For your PC do you prefer to stay away from requesting the PD designation if you think your card is extremely nice otherwise?

Thanks in advance!

  • I tend to stay away depending on the PD. For me, the Mantle looks perfectly fine except for a little "snow". I tend to notice the lines and ink run then I like. But I also hate seeing a 1961 Mantle with the roller line on the right side in a 7 holder.
