Anyone here have any background on these? Recently came across these which were labeled as such on the old yellow 2x2's. Thanks in advance.

Usually an extra dot appeared next to 'E Pluribus Unum', hyped up in the 60's, worth no premium.

If you dig out some old Coin Worlds from the mid-60's, you will find a lot of ads touting the "Double Dot" cent. It was 1965, the first year of the "no-mint marks", and a batch of these "Double Dot" cents were released in the Kansas City area which presumably meant they came from the Denver mint. The scammers hyped them as the only way to fill the empty 1965-D hole in your Whitman holder. Unfortunately, a lot of collectors who wanted a "verifiable" 1965 cent struck at the Denver mint for their holders fell for it.

As mentioned above, these were heavily promoted by

Harry Forman, and Fred Volmer back then.

I hadn't seen one in at least 15+ years, then bought

one in a collection - put it up on Ebay, and on May 31,

it sold for $18.50. (raw BU)
