Hopefully you still have the certs entered into your PSA registry inventory. If the box is not somewhere in the USPS sorting offices and it has been grabbed up by someone, then if the person who has obtained this box tries to enter the certs, PSA will be able to provide contact info for that person to you and/or the police dept. associated with the report. More likely, the items may be sold and then the certs individually entered by the next round of buyers. Even then, as long as you provide details of the situation to PSA, then PSA would still be able to contact the person trying to enter the cert and find out from them from whom it was purchased, and you can track whoever has your items that way.

Larry - Did you use the USPS or another service?
    Mike
  • Thanks miwlvrn! I never thought of adding them to my registry.

This was USPS and went out for delivery never to be seen again. Brent could not locate it in-house, neither could the post office. The post office says it was most likely...take from the truck? I've been in contact with what feels like every branch of the USPS.

That is one of several reasons why I almost always keep the certs in my registry inventory for items I've sold until they have safely reached their destination. In addition to theft tracking as I've laid out above, it also safeguards you against false claims of item not received (if the buyer were to file such a claim but also go on to try to add the cert to his registry - this has happened to me before and it saved me a lot of money by not having released the cert), as well as prevents cert poachers who pull the numbers from ebay listings even if they don't buy the item, just so they can complete their set registries. I know some people unregister their certs when they list items, but I prefer to only release the cert to my buyer, not cert poachers image

I really hate reading threads like this. Such a bummer. Good luck and we can only hope this turns out positive.

Thats sucks. I hope you had the package insured.

I had an order from PSA to me a few years back that a schmuck at the PO gave the REGISTERED package to someone else who then said they dropped them in a mailbox.

The USPS did eventually pay my claim but it was a long process.
  • Adding the certs to the registry is a great idea, I will do that from now on. The package was insured but unfortunately not the complete amount so the last week+ has been a little stressful.

I would still add them to your Inventory now and if someone else tries to register them, you will get a remove email.

Remember, you don't have to be working on sets to add certs to your registry inventory. And in case you aren't familiar with the process, if you log in and go to the My Registry page, follow the link for My Orders, click the Details button next to an order, and from there you can then add all the certs to your inventory with a single click instead of typing each number in individually.

Great info on this thread. I didn't realize it was that easy to add the certs.

I am staying optimistic your package will show up. I have had them show up 2 to 3 weeks late before.

Showing up would be a relief but nobody can find it. recording the certs in my registry may be the best way now. USPS has the case list as "lost" so police could only file a report as it being missing.

Larry - I'm not sure where you live, but the USPS in my area (LA) has gone through a bunch of retirements/buyouts. The veteran Postal employees are being replaced mainly by temps or contract workers (even for delivery). I am constantly getting other people's mail, which means I assume some of my mail is ending up somewhere else.

I've had more than few ebay packages get stuck or misdirected at the regional Post Office center since the start of last year, so I assume that temps are working there as well.

Except for Express, it seems like all levels of Postal service has gotten worse. I finally bit the bullet and now use FedEx for $$$ packages to PWCC, BBCE, or ebay sales. The cost isn't that bad and their tracking of lost packages is much better than the USPS.

I'm having the same problem. I'm having packages left at the doorstep that require signature for delivery. I had to complain several times about it. Fortunately none stolen yet but I did lose one going out to someone else. Fortunately they were cheap cards.
  • We've been having the revolving mail carrier as well but havent had any problems. I'm still hoping it was mis-delivered and will turn up.

So they made it to Lake Oswego. Some hooligan(s) must be on the lookout for packages headed to Brent's address. Such a bummer.

I think they would give the information if it were relevant to an outstanding police report/investigation.

That was an inside job. Did it have the insured postal cost to ship on the outside of the box?

I am so sorry man. It's just not right for this to happen.

Yes it did have the shipping price, I haven't found a way to remove it with USPS.com. As far as an inside job, I REALLY hope that's not the case. But if there's an abnormally high amount of insurance claims, the post office my look internally.

It shouldn't be too hard for the post office to figure out who had the package last. Based on the tracking provided , if the last scan shows out for delivery, it was the delivery driver.

Printing your USPS shipping labels from paypal.com/shipping is less expensive than on the USPS site and it allows you to print without putting the print cost/charge on the label.

I have read the OP and don't see.

    Was this package "Registered?"
    Mike
  • Why wasn't the package shipped registered ?
  • It was my arrogance for not shipping registered. I've shipped quite a bit to PSA, Rick and Brent priority insured and have never had even a delayed package.

I guess what I'm disappointed in the most is myself. Being over confident in the USPS set me up to lose money. I normally never ship much more that the insurance replacement value.

Doesn't work that way. The clerks sort packages to the routes and when they're all sorted they scan a bar code that says "sorting complete" and that adds a sorting complete scan to all of the tracking numbers they scanned. Then 10 minutes later a computer generates an "out for delivery" scan.

I don't know about all offices, but in my office the scans aren't attached to each route so if something for route 6 was sorted to my route, I could steal it and they would ask R6 where it went. Only exceptions would be express, certified, and registered. I'm in a small office so I would imagine things are different in a bigger office.

    Do I appreciate your honesty/sincerity.

I'm sorry to hear about this and sure hope the package shows up - perhaps misdirected?

I am really sorry about what has happened. I always figured it was just a matter of time before packages started going missing on the way to Brent at PWCC. The temptation and reward has gotten too enticing for criminals now that Brent has millions of dollars of yearly sales worth of items coming and going from his office every day. It will only get worse and too many hands touching the items along the way. Items left unattended etc. depending on how the item is sent they could be lying in wait to run and grab items right off his doorstep. Scary.

At least when PWCC send out a package it has B.H. as sender. No real indication of what is inside or value.

Always pleased to see the Probstein package: Buy Sell Consign sticker that says please steal me.

Like that would make even the slightest difference to me.

With as much as business as PWCC is doing it might actually pay for him to have security guard posted there 24 hours to monitor what is coming and going not to mention God forbid a break in. We all see the value of some the cards he I selling. 100K here, 100k there. Just saying.

His packages are delivered to a Postal Annex. So you might take a shot at giving them a call.
  • flatfoot816flatfoot816 Posts: 2,194 ✭✭✭
you may also want to put in a search on eBay for every card that you lost. That way if someone tries to move it on the bay--you'll get notice. Also notify the other AHs with a list in the event that the cards are consigned to them in the near future
  • miwlvrnmiwlvrn Posts: 4,266 ✭✭✭✭✭
Two scenarios will mean it being unlikely you find the items: if they were stolen by someone who decides to keep them but not add the certs to his collection (or, he finds an in-person transaction with someone who chooses to keep them in that way); or, if the cards are cracked out of the flips and sold raw or resubbed to other grading companies or subbed back to PSA but spaced out instead of in the same group. Other than that, I would remain hopefully optimistic that the cert numbers will eventually lead you to finding your cards, whether individually or as a group. I'd give the appropriate personnel at PSA a reference email with details including your list there plus the police report info, and then revisit that contact conversation when eventually you get the email that someone is attempting to add the cert to their collection. Good Luck!

Go to the Post Office and talk to the Postmaster. Don't talk to the clerk, don't talk to the Supervisor. Talk to the Postmaster. When you talk to him/her, tell the PM that you want to talk to the carrier who was on that route on that particular day. Tell the PM that you want to file a written complaint against that employee, and that you want the Postmaster to call the Postal Inspectors. Do not take "no" for an answer. There are two possibilities - either someone screwed up and your package is in that Post Office, or someone is stealing. There may be other issues with the carrier who is responsible and other customers may have lost packages. Get the Postal Inspectors involved. Hopefully, both the carrier and the Postmaster will receive discipline.

very odd as everyone I talked with could not located the package or cards but I am extremely relieved!
