1883 Hawaii Patterns

Not very familiar with the series but I thought I've heard there was a few pieces of the $1 struck in gold at one point but I did a quick skim and can't find anything about that it.

Any history to this or were all the 1883 Patterns struck in silver and copper?
I have plans....sometimes

A quick look into the Damon Sale a decade or so ago would give you a likely answer. There was also an auction that was in many ways more extensive than the Damon sale sold by Goldberg about 5 years ago. It was more broad with many more esoteric pieces than Damon had. Might check there on some of the copper patterns that was sold.

Next time I talk to my dear friend F.L., I will ask for you just to confirm

Another reference is Don Metcalf's book.

Then you could always ask Andy Lustig...which is always a good bet you will get an answer. image
