Kansas City is not a bad choice. And for those barbecue lovers out there, Kansas City has some of the best around. A bit different style compared to Memphis, but there are some really good places to eat there. Any idea where the show will be held at in Kansas City?
Some people will drop out, but some people will be added. Despite Lyn making Memphis a memorable event, there are pretty close to ZERO locals. Kansas City is closer to Saint Louis, Kansas City is cheaper to go to. It is a Southwest Airlines city for those in the US. And Lyn knows Kansas City well enough that you can trust he will do as good a job as he can. He said he is going to put it right where a lot of professionals work in the general downtown area, so we have a shot at getting people into paper.
I personally can now set up. Because I live in Tennessee, I have to charge sales tax to everyone in Tennessee who does not have a sales tax license.
On top of that, people have had a really crappy time flying back east out of Memphis. My guess is the delays out of KC would not be as nearly as bad. And I won't have to walk several blocks out of the way to get to my hotel in Kansas City because there is an active crime scene.

Jeff - last night's shootings and police officer death kind of put the fork in Memphis for some, as
I have an old college friend that lives outside of Memphis, and she's really made mention how the crime rate has really gone up in the past few years in Memphis, especially on Beale Street.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Memphis and all that goes with it, and if you look around at ANY city you can find crime, but that being said...
Let's give KC a chance, maybe a change in location "could" be what is needed, as there is absolutely no public coming through at all in Memphis...
I have to agree with Jim - I'm going to keep an open mind about the move and we'll see what happens. Doing a bit of internet research, the area around the Convention location in KC is a vast improvement over downtown Memphis - unless you like the convenience of having the Shelby County Jail and dozens of bail bond offices nearby.
For me, it will be cheaper to fly from South Carolina to KC than it is to get to Memphis and with more flight options. Talking to several folks from the Midwest at the show, they are thrilled with the move as it is much closer for them. One major dealer from North Dakota told me it takes him two connections to get to Memphis whereas getting to KC will take him one connection and at half the price. Also, every Friday night at Memphis, a group of us Nationals fanatics have an informal get-together and, of the 20 or so people in the room, everyone raised their hand when asked if they were going to KC.
I will be Exhibit Chairman again for next year and look forward to seeing what we'll have. Needless to say, if any of you folks would like to be amongst the first exhibitors in the new venue, please let me know.
I can't blame Lyn for moving the IPMS to Kansas City to make it easier for him and his staff to run the show and the auction. At the same time, I guess KC is a bit better location than Memphis, but still inconvenient for many. It really would have been better to have it on the East Coast since the other paper money shows are also in the Midwest. Oh well. Farewell to the Memphis Show. It was once the greatest paper show of them all, with loads of new material on the floor each year. Lots of memories.
I really enjoy smoking meat. (I've been told I make killer ribs.) I'm looking forward to trying out some of the BBQ restaurants around Kansas City.

I really enjoy Kansas City when I visit so I am looking forward to KC!
Scheduling the same as the June Long Beach doesn't make a whole lot of sense to maximize participation...
