Tougher on vintage?

Does anyone else feel that PSA is getting tougher on vintage cards. I've posted on here numerous times, my focus is a 53 thru 57 topps run in PSA 7. Lately I have seen some beautiful 55's and 56's land in 7 holders that in the past were considered 8's. I have a nice stack of 56 commons I was planning on sending off to get graded for my set but have become slightly nervous after seeing some vintage in the new holders. Am I just being paranoid or are they tightening up on the older stuff. Thoughts?

My observation is the opposite. When I sub vintage items, it seems to me that a lot of the time, the cards come back between 0.5 to 1.0 grades higher than what I would expect if they had instead been subjected to standards for 1956-present.

Agreed, the older cards on my last sub were a grade higher than expected. Many more disappointments on the newer stuff.
  • I hope this is the case. Maybe I'm being overly critical on the cards I bought. I'll try to figure out how to post scans and maybe get a few opinions before I send this lot out for grading.

I think they're tougher, and the ridiculous MINSIZE is applied way too often, even to previously graded cards.
