American $1 Coin and Currency Set 2016

I would have thought this would have been released later this year, closer toward Christmas. (Stocking stuffer, donchaknow.) They held HH limits last year until after Black Friday...

Is expected to be interesting numbers (According to the experience from previous years) ? image

Since the $1 FRN was to have a low serial number from one of the 12 FRBs, I ordered 3 sets

immediately as they went on sale hoping maybe to get a 2 or 3 digit note. The sets arrived this morning,

    the serial numbers were:

    D00008776A

    D00008777A

    D00008778A

Oh well, the mini radar is nice.

Oh Marty, feel sorry for you not getting a better set of numbers. At least you tried which is more than I will do.

Thanks Jim. I normally don't try but for $15 each I figured why not try. The Mint was vague on the FRN just saying a low serial number from one of the FRBs. Question is where did they start the numbering, I sort of hoped that it was 1 but maybe not. Maybe I have a really "low" number. It was ordered in the first minute. There is one eBay seller trying to sell 138xx sets for $25.

The "low" serial #s don't seem to be less than 4 digits and many 5 digits. Radars, solid #s, etc., may be the best hope.

I got my five sets today. Out of the five, two were good. The other three had the ring on the coin.

I did, though, get a radar note: 000014741 (hooray!)

    Some questions re this.

I have a radar from the set as mentioned earlier (000014741). I is worth sending to PCGS or PMG for grading? Or just keep in the OGP?

If sending in, do I just remove the note from the OGP and list it as "2016 $1 C&C Set"? Does the TPG have to have the packaging to verify it?

Any idea of the potential market value for this?

I think you have three 0 - Not four 0 image

I don't think that number is worth the grading fee to be honest.
