(Non) Buyer's Remorse

The '48 Robinson has been top of my Want List since 2009.
Circa 2010:
I sat in front of the computer screen, ogling a '48 Leaf SGC 88 Robinson with a $7500 BIN.
"Wow amazing card! This could be the prize of my collection!"
"How can I possibly justify, I dunno, a $1000 premium over the last NM-MT sale??"
So the watching, the pondering, the head scratching continued for weeks. Couldn't pull the trigger.
2010-2013
The hunt continued for the perfect PSA 6. $1300-$1500-$2000 was the price ranges.
Missed out on a couple, passed on a couple.... Nothing
2013:
Son: "Dad, you better find your card soon! The new Jackie Robinson movie is gonna spike his card prices!"
Me: "Nah, no worries. I still have time"
Early 2016:
A local card show:
After browsing through many tables, I located a very, very acceptable SGC 60 Ex.
After chatting with the dealer for awhile, we agreed to a $2400 cash transaction.
"I'm 99% sure I will be buying this.", I told the dealer. "Thank you for the good offer, if I bail out at the last minute."
I hurried back home, did some quick research, withdrew money at the bank, and.....
NOTHING.
That day, I would have rather paid the additional $2400 to my house mortgage.
Non-buyer's remorse remains with me since each occasion.
Moral of the story: Well... don't pay extra on your house; buy cards? Not true.
The Chase is exciting, addicting, and fulfilling after filling a big spot within a collection....
Some day, Jackie!
Best of luck to all with your own "Jackie" chase!
Thanks for reading.

I have a PSA 1 48 Leaf Robinson that is one of my pride and joys. I could have purchased a higher graded copy, but i decided to have "the card" and not the "grade." I think I appreciate it more because it is lower grade. Don't get me wrong, i have my fair share of high grade cards...but the 48 JR RC will always be one of my favorites.
