Stacks/Bowers' Monthly Internet Auctions Are Back (With A Twist)!

A quick shout to Stacks/Bowers who are back in business with not only their Monthly "Collector's Choice" internet Auction, but also Stacks is now utilizing a live auctioneer to conduct the sale(s) (1:00 p.m. Eastern Time 6/1/16) AND has a website that is working quite smoothly!

On top of that, they permit BOTH collectors and dealers to use their credit cards for purchases up to $2,500.00 in the auction.

    You are really hung up on the credit card thing! Yet at shows, there is hardly a soul who will accept a credit card from us collectors! If dealers want to use cards, they need to take cards!

    Credit Card purchases require the state tax to be paid...if there is one. A cash sale is an "under the table" transaction...from what I understand.

    This is a great point! I think that we're seeing a lot of the larger dealers start to take cards at shows as well. We're set up for it, but you do have to be mindful of local tax laws and the fact that you are likely able to negotiate a better deal if you're using a check.

    As for credit cards, I think as an industry it's a service that's not offered enough. That's why we accept credit cards up to $10k.

    The tax is required either way. It's also required in most states that have sales tax for you as a buyer to pay your state use tax on Internet purchases. Cash just makes it easier to be a tax evader.image
