Time For A Bust Half Thread

OK, we used to have these all the time. Nobody like Bust halves anymore?
Here is a popular variety 1814 E/A 108a. What a mess eh? Coin and image came from the very knowledgeable member Busthalfbrian.

And here is an early die-state, matter fact the prime die-state (no cracks or clashes) for the 1814 E/A O-108 that I have posted before. I believe one of the first set-up strikes. So if you're a whack job we look for cracks and clashes that aren't there.
It also has a full eagle's head on reverse. Which usually is smooth. Some might find interesting is instead of the weak area on the left side, the dies look like they were misaligned (and stronger on left side, weak on right side) during what might be a misaligned set-up strike.

And a close up of the blunder E/A on the reverse. I know I did this before but what the heck. I feel these two show the early and late very well.

I have a few CBH's to contribute. What do you want to see? Here's a scarce AU58+ (O.108a) I like.
Lance.
I like the E over A. I'm not into varieties so I've never seen that before.
Very cool. Unlike today with Twiter talk I thought people back then actually knew how to spell the English language?
I have my 1839-O on standby in Photobucket.
Draped or Capped is fine by me... Very fine, in fact.

Did I do something wrong, or do I just need to ask them to correct it?

I know you're kidding.
Speculation is that the A punched into STATES instead of the correct E was not a matter of illiteracy by "the help" or a spelling error by Reich. It was likely due to a distraction that caused Reich to lose his place. Seeing a T and little more (under magnification) he didn't realize he was about to strike the fifth letter, not the third. I wonder what expletive he uttered.
Here's mine.

I've been meaning to post this because it is the 50/UNI type, (though the LDS (O-101a)), but they did not encapsulate it as such. I marked the form prominently, but I did not pay any variety fees because I didn't think I needed to.
Did I do something wrong, or do I just need to ask them to correct it?
You just need to ask for it to be corrected. Another "mechanical" error. Call or email first because PCGS has special procedures for handling this. It won't cost you anything.

OK...here is another from your friend and mine....Dave Kahn. I had an O-146 but never loved it. This one fit the bill.

Just picked this up from CRO.

This one is the first I ever owned, having gotten it for my 11th birthday on December 28, 1976. It is one of only two of my childhood coins still with me.
On its 200th anniversary in 2027, I hope to pass it down to some as-yet-unborn grandchild.
This next one is in my "Oddball Collection". I found the grafitto on it to be intriguing.
Did it really belong to 19th century tycoon William Henry Vanderbilt, perhaps in his younger days?
We'll never know. I'm fairly confident the engraving is pretty old, but that's about all there is to say.

Lance, I know I'm stating the obvious but you have some amazing halves.
Amen to that, lusterlover (and nice looking 1803 of yours BTW).
Looks like Lance is about to corner the market on gorgeous CBH toners!
