Show and tell: some 1971 Topps high numbers

As I'm getting really close to completing this set (I need five), I thought I'd share some images of some of the high numbers. Collectors of this set know some of these are tough to find in high grade.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

I don't think the high numbers are necessarily scarcer than the earlier year or 1972 high numbers. However, when you combine the relative scarcity with the condition sensitivity of the set, finding nice '71 high numbers is definitely a challenge.

The '71 high numbers run from #644 Jim Stewart to #752 Dick Drago. A complete run of the highs in PSA 7 (according to 5/19/2016 VCP) would be $1,834, a complete run in PSA 8 would be $6,978, and a complete run in PSA 9 would be $51,508. Oof.

The '71 semi-high numbers run from #524 Mickey Stanley to #643 Rick Reichardt. A complete run of the semi-highs in PSA 7 would be $2,213, a complete run in PSA 8 run would be $11,891, and a complete run in PSA 9 run would be $55,633.

So the semi-high's are tougher, based on price, certainly in 8.
    Odd.

Interesting observation about the 5th series. They are definitely tougher than the first four series. I can't be sure but I believe I paid more per card for the 6th series than the 5th. Some 5th series toughies for me were: Vida Blue, Cubs Rookies, Dave Cash (one of 4 that I still need now), Willie Davis, Mel Stottlemyre, Bobby Murcer and the Athletics Team card (another of the 4 I currently need).

...and thanks for the compliments on the cards, guys. Early-mid '70's is pretty much the main focus of my collection as it is my childhood card era.
