You know we love our cows in Texas, and especially well aged (from the HA weekly auction):



THESSALY. Pharcadon. Ca. 450-375 BC. AR hemiobol (0.48 gm). Head of bull right within dotted circle / Ram standing left within incuse square. HGC 4, 304. BCD Thessaly II 610. Very rare.

    Neat. I wasn't familiar with this design.



    Nor was I familiar with a little piece of trivia I picked up in the latest Bill Bryson book*- did you know that cows kill more people every year than bulls do? Usually by stampeding rather than goring.



    (Not a terribly useful factoid, I'll admit, but next time you happen to be standing out in a pasture, you might wanna keep an eye out for ol' Flossie and Bessie instead of Ferdinand the Bull!)
