The coin had waaaaayyy to many marks to even be passable as an ms64.link

Then a quick cert verification showed a totally different perspective

Could it simply be gosh awful lighting? Sometimes poor lighting will throw off the look of a coin, sometimes in a terrible way.

Both obverse photos show the same 'toning speck' right below the right side of the neck- very close to the rim.

I know one cant grade from pictures but that coin is so heavily marked that there is no way it could be an ms64.

For an ms64 I would expect to see a handful of marks on the buffalo maybe one being larger.
This looks no better than a ms61 at most (if you can call it MS)

Agreed, I believe it is the same and due to the lighting. Way too many marks that are consistent on both Ebay and PCGS. Although it may be graded a little high everyone gets lucky at times, what can you do?

Holder looks 100% legit as does the coin. Somehow somebody looks to have made a switch.

looks like the same coin, but the GSC photo shows the coin more "life like" than the glamor shot

Looks like the coin to me. Notice the staining streak by the date on both coins.

Same coin - look at the loop above LIBERTY on the obverse.

Somebody buy it and let us know what it really looks like in hand. image

The 14 bidders do not appear to think so. This is in the latest PCGS holder too.

I wonder what the seller would tell you........After comparing spots and some marks, It appears to be the same con in the PCGS Photo just different lighting conditions after looking at both.

What does the seller say or did you just go ahead and accuse him of fraud?

Examining a scan is not the same as sight seen examination under a glass and in 100 watt light. I would need to see it sight seen to come to an opinion as to where it falls in the grade range.....especially at the major money its been bid up to. Too much lighting can distort things....

Obviously the same coin and obviously the lighting on the second image sucks.

As for the marks, keep in mind that most are "as made", marks on the planchet that commonly remain visible on the less well struck high points of the coin. If you look at more Buffalo nickels, you'll see it over and over again.

I think it is the same coin too, marks on both sides look similar to me. I can see how the lighting would make it look like 2 different coins, though.

I once saw a pcgs ms65 1913 type one buffalo nickel that looked like a train had run over it.
maybe it was just the lighting on the picture?
