Who Ripped '68 BB wax packs?

PWCC has a lot up this month and Brent says they are all from recently opened packs.

Anyone know who ripped them or was it a full box? I mean wow--what stones if it was a full box

well there are 210 cards so that would mean 42 packs if nothing was pulled for grading.

also, the cards span series 1,2,3 and 4 so makes me wonder ...........

5 in wax, 12 in cello, 36 in rack. 1970 was the first 10 card pack.

Yup ... remember ripping them day after day as a 10 year old!

Pack fresh is a rather ubiquitous term to describe singles for sale.

Manny ... could be nice for a raw set if centering is not a concern. Going thru them quickly it looks like the person who opened those packs (if that is what really happened) took out the nicer ones that were good candidates for grading and gave Brent the ones that most likely would obtain an O/C designation.

given the overabundance of high grade '68's and the relative low popularity (and price) of the set how would ripping a box be anywhere near a winning proposition? Got to be a Brewsters Millions type of endeavor.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

Maybe the auction winner will let us know if a 1 cent Ben Franklin stamp was used on the package

Unless they were holding that box since the Richard Pryor version of Brewster's Million, that would definitely be a losing proposition. I sold a PSA 8 Series 1 pack a while back for $750, I couldn't even imagine what a full box would go for if it was BBCE wrapped.

I just sent this email to Brent at pwcc:

Hi Brent--just came upon this listing today and am very intrigued by it; so did the consignor of this lot really open packs which resulted in these 210 cards?!?!  At five cards per pack, that means they wouldve had to open at a minimum 42 packs to yield 210 cards; at 24 packs per box 42 packs would be almost two full boxes!!   I've been buying from you for years and you're one of my favorite ebay sellers so I certainly trust you but I am amazed that someone would have the cohones to open that many packs especially when a better and more lucrative option wouldve been to get them graded and then sell them; with psa 7 and 8 68 packs going for anywhere from $400-600 (or more) depending on the series it seems crazy to just open this many of them and leave that much money on the table. I own three 1968 packs (all are graded) and have never been tempted to open any of mine; the consignor obviously must not have any willpower or maybe is sitting on a few boxes--perhaps even cases--of them so maybe he or she had the luxury of being able to have a little fun; who am I to say?!?!  If my second theory is correct and they have a surplus of unopened 68 packs/boxes would they be interested in selling any of them??  Again, I know from dealing with you for many years that you are a man of your word but I find it hard to believe that someone would be crazy enough to open almost two full boxes of these--thanks!
