Frank Grove-Medals of Mexico P-189a

TPRCTPRC Posts: 3,814 ✭✭✭✭✭

I am looking for the reference for the above medal from Grove's Medals of Mexico for medal P-189a, an Ulysses S. Grant medal from 1880. If someone has the reference and would be kind enough to pm me or post it for me, I would appreciate it.

Unfortunately my copy of Grove, Volume 2 has already been packed for my upcoming move.

I will ask a friend in Mexico to snap a photo of the appropriate page for you. Will that work?

    Only the text?

Pruebas--Thank you...whatever you can do would be appreciated. While I'd like to see a sketch of the medal, if available, I'll take whatever I can get. I'm also not sure it is in Volume 2, but I just don't know. My medal which NGC attributed as P- 189a is a Ulysses S.Grant medal from 1880 known as the Aztec Medal from the Mexican School of Fine Arts, in silver. I've not seen another, though I have seen reference to one sale at auction about 10 years ago.
    Thanks.

I do not believe it is a rare medal, even scarce. I think I've got a silver one in my collection as well.

Mexican medals don't sell much in the US since there is little interest in most of them, so it's understandable that you wouldn't have seen it.

pruebas--thank you so much....that is it. I am a bit surprised because I didn't know of that reference until I received it back from NGC. Nevertheless, I will take your word on its rarity.
