Secondary market for PCGS souvenir slabs

YorkshiremanYorkshireman Posts: 4,587 ✭✭✭✭✭
I got to attend my first PCGS member lunch at the FUN show.

Of course, I was given a slabbed coin (a dime).

What kind of secondary market is there for these coins?

The sooner it is up for sale the better, especially if it is a unique for location. Throw it out on the 'bay and find out...they are out there...I am looking for the first generation with all zeros 00000.00/0000000

There are a few of us who collect "sample" slabs, but not a large #. "Sample" is also subject to definition, i.e. it must say "SAMPLE" or it can include a variety of promotional, novelty, etc. The prevalence of pseudo-sample slabs has me, for example, cutting off at 2014 (starting in 2015 the # of vanity 'sample' slabs became too large to be able to even guess at what was out there).

If you are interested, the .pdf version of David Schwager's Sample Slab book is still available for sale although the print version is sold out - and a 2nd edition is in preparation.

These have sold for a wide range of prices - PCGS has put some interesting coins in the Luncheon slabs along with some boring ones... best bet (always) is to search sold listings on eBay, but that only works if there are some that sold in the last 90 days...
