Seriously now, I suspect that the geometric pattern of untoned surface is where some type of textile fabric or paper ephemera laid on the obverse surface. The toned pattern is what was exposed to open air. Think dresser sock drawer, or writing desk drawer or something thereof. The reverse is 100% white.
