Need help with the value of this stamp . Found on letter dated 1856 . Thanks

This appears to be Scott #10 or 11, from the regular issue of 1851. It's definitely of greater value being on cover, so don't remove it. Unfortunately, there are a large number of varieties for this particular stamp, primarily ink color. I'm not an expert in that area, but if this is a more common variety my guess is a retail value would be $10-15.
