1934 $1 Treasury Gift?

I was told this was given out by the treasury?

I can't find anything to back up the story.

Anyone here have any insight?

I have never seen those. I will do some digging around.

The typing on the note looks period, and the AA block should have been in the A24xxxxxxA range sometime in August / September 1934. The AA block was printed between June 27, 1934 and November 8, 1934.

Post BEP. The date is probably the date stamped on the strap this note was wrapped in.
