My pickups from today's Bay State Coin Show -- post yours!

My first thread went poof (I think) because I said a certain word in the title that meant treasure, but it must be a banned word...as I can't think of any other reason it went poof image

Anyhow, here are my new pickups

First coin is from our very own JGNumismatics, and it's a real looker in hand. Tough coin to get with CAC sticker, just not that many original pieces left.

Been looking for a 1909-S IHC for a while, with $1k budget, trying to maximize the amount of coin I can buy. Accidentally walked into this piece and the deal was done right at $1k. It's a very well struck, original coin for a 62BN...a lot of coin for $1k.

This medal came from our very own DaveW...this is eye candy boys and girls, take it in image

The second word ... it must have set off some flags, my post went poof in like 30 seconds.

All amazing pickups, I'm especially drawn in by the medal. Artisan handiwork on that one!

Went to the Bay State Show. Just last Sunday I bought my first T2 gold dollar (1854 PCGS 55) on eBay from a national dealer. At the show yesterday I saw another T2 1854 gold dollar. It was graded PCGS XF-45 with a CAC sticker. It's well struck on the reverse and has great eye appeal and was $75.00 less than the AU piece. The AU-55 with the weak reverse goes back for a refund tomorrow. I'm very happy with the CAC XF-45. Now I only need a $3 Princess and my gold type set will be complete. First coin I purchased with a CAC sticker. By the way, very nice seated half!

Nice seated half. Jake(JGN) is a great guy to work with. We work together often and have nevee been disappointed with any purchase from him. Can't say enough about him. I didn't see it in hand but he gave me the description over the phone but I could tell he was excited to acquire it. Glad you got it.

I'm pretty darn certain I sold that PCGS EF45/CAC Type 2 gold dollar to the dealer on Friday afternoon. I had it in my inventory on my website and featured it on the BST in its own thread, but no one ever contacted me about the coin.

    Way cool congrats!

Is the half dipped and retoned? ... it's very pretty but this is the look I associate (wrongly or correctly) with being dipped and retoned. But again, regardless, a very nice pickup. Cheers.

    SeattleSlammer,

It doesn't look dipped and retoned; it has nice original skin on it with super sparkly luster. While one cannot rule out the possibility (e.g. if a tree falls in the forrest does it make a sound?), it would have had to have been dipped so long ago to develop that type of toning with that level of thickness, that it would have had to have been dipped prior to modern day dipping solutions and would have probably looked totally different.

Anyhow, thanks for your input...thought I'd post some feedback.
