Think of what a WOW thread this would be if Mr. Bowers himself were to make some posts in here.

If 1894-S dimes were given the SP designation by the TPG's (who need to come together in a meeting of the minds),an example of 1894-S dime would be necessary to include in a strict date/mint run collection of these in order to call one's Barber Dime collection truly "complete."

Collectors across the land will be lamenting the loss of complete status for their Barber Dime collections by the ridiculously rare 1894-S being deemed by the powers to "not be a proof issue."

Presently,a complete Barber dime date/run set is comprised of 74 issues,1892-1916.I considered my set complete by have 75 issues to include the 1905-o micro 'o.'My blue Whitman for Barber dimes actually had a slot for 1894-S but no slot for 1905 micro 'O' IIRC,

I was looking in my 1959 Redbook at mintage numbers for Barber dimes.I must say it is rather startling to see "24" in there with mintage numbers in the hundreds of thousands and millions.

1959 Redbook price for 1894-S dime is $3000.
