I'm not sure if there are restrictions on the the composition of SS numbers but there are at most 55 possible guesses (anywhere from 12-66). Again, assuming no restrictions and all numbers equally likely, the most likely total is 39.

Since you were born in NY, I would guess your SS number starts with a 1. That makes 36 the most likely. keeping that assumption, the numbers in the 30s are more likely than all other numbers combined.

Given this range; there are still 7 guesses that can be made.

    12, 13, 14, 62, 63, 64 and 66.

    I will guess 62.

The first three digits of SS numbers for NY range from 050-134. So all SS numbers originating in the state of NY are between 050-xx-xxxx - 134-xx-xxxx. The OP gave us a hint of his number containing (3) 4's which total 12. The lowest combination for any SS number from NY with (3) 4's would be 13. The lowest first 3 digits being 100 with (3) 4's with (3) 0's or 100-44-4000 or any combination of the last 6 numbers. The highest combination for NY SS numbers with (3) 4's is 57. The highest starting 3 digits is 099 with (3) 4's with (3) more 9's, an example being 099-44-4999. With that being said, there are two numbers left to guess. My original post was incorrect with the number of guesses left. I did not want to edit my original post.

The two possible numbers left to guess are 13 and 14.

Good luck and thank you for the chance at this neat contest!!

Thanks for the extra info. I guess the last two posters didn't read (or trust) your post. image

I wonder how many people will keep guessing numbers that have already been taken.
