1968 Nolan Ryan Rookie Reprints

Does anyone have some context for who produced these near exact duplicates of the Nolan Ryan Rookie and I assume other stars from 1968 Topps Set?

Other than each one of them being dead centered, what are the other ways to tell its a reproduction of the original?

Not Milton Bradley, but there are some reprints out there like this one:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/1968-TOPPS-177-NOLAN-RYAN-ROOKIE-MINT-REPRINT-/231888915161?hash=item35fda80ad9:g:UVAAAOSwzgRW0kgV

The mesh border seems slightly thicker than an authentic Ryan...

    Also check this one

The Reprint Mantle is a little tougher to tell in my opinion, but who made these and when/why?

I imagine a plethora of them are coming from Etsy.com

This guy has over 300 reprints for sale and they look pretty good. This makes you never to want to buy raw.

I get the feeling that the Steph Curry reprint is currently flooding the market and many people are reselling it as the real deal without problem.

It is a shame that these exist and that there are people willing to sell them without stamping 'reprint' on the back. Just the concept that they are unlicensed should be enough to make one think twice about selling them.

I doubt Topps even bothers trying to protect their intellectual property as the cost to pursue anyone would not be worth it. The only potential damages are to the Heritage and Archives products.

Agreed all, I will pursue only graded rookies and high dollar cards like the Mantle anyway, but we just don't need this junk on the market. I wish the producers of these would stamp them or otherwise make it more obvious its not the real deal card Topps issue. The sellers at least are trying to be upfront about it, but someone will eventually try to get one or two sold as originals and end up hood-winking someone.

Agreed 49ersGuy. Reprints of modern cards are going to be even tougher to spot. Crazy fyi think how many fake Curry's are floating around.

Fake 2009 currys everywhere. There's been over 50 "reprints" sold for a reason.
