An interesting 1908 Barber Dime

The repunching in the "9" is typical, but the bottom of the 8 is very different. Looks like what is left of the base of a "1" under the "8".

Opinions welcomed.

I think it's metal from the flat spot on the bottom of the 8 that was pushed down.
