These just arrived this week, a couple of pretty early NGC slabs, feel free to post your earliest.
The Groat I had previously posted, the Half Sov is a new one for my Jubilee Head Type set.

Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
May make sense to reholder then
There is a segment of our hobby who pay more for these older holders, similar to PCGS OGH. Not sure how much more, but I do think most of the coins in these holders would be considered PQ by today's standards.

Nice stuff. One caveat though: these older NGC slabs tend to cause slow toning because there is no air barrier between the insert and the coin. I don't recall if there is a small bit of adhesive affixing the label to the slab, but that would be part of the problem too.

I have never seen any evidence of toning in the old no-line NGC holders. This is true of older PCI holders, and has been shown time and again, but no-line fatty NGC holders are very stable, and the materials used in the label are completely inert.
And, just to clarify, even in the new NGC holders (with a line between the upper label and the lower coin partitions) they are not air-tight between the label and coin sections. The white substance in NGC slabs is one continuous piece of inert flexible plastic material (I have cracked plenty of slabs to know this).
As for the age of these slabs: The ones with no line and with a bar code are from 1992-1995 (21-24 years old). The last one Zohar posted with no line but also without a bar code is older, and (assuming it has a hologram sticker on the back) was used from around 1989-1992 (24 - 27 years old).
I would not reholder anything in these old slabs unless they are scratched beyond recognition/photography. There is something to be said for stability of a coin in a 20+ year old holder.
Just my 2 cents...

That's an ancient slab! Thanks for this info.

Forgive the "liteside" posting here -- but here is an example coin I have in an old no-line/no barcode (about 25 years old) slab. Non-USA coins are not really super common in no-line fatty holders. The vast majority of slabbing was happening in the USA coin market 20-25 years ago. They are out there, but they are not prevalent.
