I second the AT assessment. Colorful but not natural.

It might have been in one of those cardboard JFK memorial holders for the last 50 years.

I'm kind of thinking that too, with as mentioned above, the "targets" on both sides.
Whether or not it's NT or AT, PCGS thinks it is market acceptable.
I think it may be the most beautifully colored Kennedy I've seen!
BTW, I went straight to RichieURich's website to see if he had it in inventory then found that it's not his coin . . .

Need the following OBW rolls to complete my 46-64 Roosevelt roll set: 1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S. Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!
It's interesting-ish, but I wouldn't pay a premium for it (and therefore could never possibly own it.) Doesn't look natural to my eye - that sort of color on anything else, except maybe a Morgan, would be ridiculous..... but maybe it's plausible on a Kennedy.
Whoa...my first thought, and I could see this residing in an envelope, undisturbed for years, decades, since minting even. I'll go against the grain...I like it!

Not too sure on this one. While it's an easy coin to look at, those pastel pinks scream AT to me, though it could just be the lighting. The toning colors remind me of that 'monster toned' Peace Dollar that popped up as a topic several years back, the one that was slabbed, then taken off the market.

My thoughts exactly. cwbyup or something was his name. The purple class 2 and 3 aren't supposed to be near that bright. And the green class 2 and 3 are slightly brighter than should be. The kicker is how there are very few elevation chromatics to speak of. Color floats. Not good. AT. With respect, my opinion is PCGS got this one wrong.
I have existed since the creation of this world and will exist until its end. Only my form will change. For these 80 human life years, I have the benefit of having a functioning body and consciousness. I will not waste this opportunity.
too much purple tends to put me off and sets me in an AT chair. though it is in a PCGS holder, I think with extreme color the question we need to ask ourselves is "Would they grade it the same if I cracked it and submitted it raw?" based on Rich's price suggestion I don't think I'd be willing to take the chance.

I would pay quite a bit more than that number for that coin!
Oh yes . . . so would I!
This coin would fit well with the OP coin.
Man I wish I had bid higher on that one even knowing that I would be buried in it forever. ! ! !

I wonder if the TrueView image has just boosted the colors to a level that make people say "AT." PCGS graders thought it was natural, and they saw it in person, so I'll take it as natural.
My college roommate once showed me a small sandwich bag stuffed with 1976 Bicentennial halves that had developed toning just like this coin. The entire bag had monster rainbow colors. This was in 1994, so they weren't even 20 years old at the time. I do not know how they had been stored prior to developing the toning, but if a bag of clad halves can tone that quickly, then so can a 1964 90% silver half.
In another instance of finding toned modern coinage, someone brought a complete set of Gem BU Jefferson nickels into our local coin shop in the 1990s. The coins were dated 1938 to 1964. They were housed in a single-page, large plastic holder. Every single coin had developed drop-dead, rainbow bullseye toning around the rim on both sides. I wanted that set so badly, but someone else got to it first. Neither Jefferson nickels nor rainbow toning were a big deal back in those days, so I probably would have gotten the whole set for something like $300. The coins were assembled by someone who really knew how to grade, so it was quite a sight.

Not the best but very attractive and market acceptable.

Unlike the Kennedy, this coin looks real and spectacular to me. I'd love to own it if you know who ended up with it!
I don't care if it is slabbed by a major TPG or not. To me, it screams artificial toning and I would not buy it.
