Possible new 1953-D RPM Quarter?

I have a question for those versed in Washington quarters. I think this may be a new RPM. I've looked in the books as well as on-line and I haven't been able to find an example of a '53-D like this one. It almost appears to be a D/D/D (D?). Has anyone else ever seen an example like this?
Thanks in advance
Dave

Hopefully the quarter variety folks chime in here.

I was wondering if this was the case but I don't ever remember seeing anything like this solely on the mint mark with such clarity. But it certainly is a possibility. I sent a copy of the image to Thomas Kalantzis and will reply when (if) I hear back from him.
Strike double or chatter can be a funny bird effecting some parts of a coin and leaving other areas alone. Here is a good example. Take a look at this extreme strike doubling on the date and MM on this Lincoln then take a look at the rest of the coin.

look at enough and you will see hundreds, if not thousands on many types. in all different directions, strengths/weaknesses and also with legitimate rpm/omm etc. ironic but true.
one can see false doubling with true as well. tdr/tdo etc.

one of the biggest numismatic mind-bogglers to me but the man is right.
has tripped me up a few times, mostly in the early days but once now & then still. o:

The bottom looks like MD, but what is that coming out of the top?
idk
a top-down view and a top angled image would be of some interest.
