Ebay continues to thrill and amaze. Problem resolved.

Tonight I was contacted by an ebay member interested in an obsolete I'm selling. They are curious why my note looks identical to one that sold 4 days ago. I checked sold listings and, sure enough, there is they exact same note complete with Heritage pictures in the listing. Someone is going to be disappointed. I contacted Ebay's "Customer Support" with all of the assurance and confidence of Detroit Lions Superbowl win in my lifetime.

Scary....the scammer's listing shows no red flags as far as I can see.

  • Strange. Why would somebody with 6000, 100% positive do something stupid like this for 60$.

Man I've been there. I sold a $20 Double Eagle Gold Coin a couple of years ago and after the auction ended someone stole my pictures and used them in another eBay listing. The buyer, who had not received his coin in the mail yet, sent me a message wondering what the heck was going on and threatened to open up a case against me. He was paying close to $2K and was genuinely scared I was trying to pull some sort of scam. I went off on the guy who made the identical listing using my pics and also called and got eBay involved. Burned an hour of time but thankfully it all worked out.

If the person you talked to at eBay did not instill confidence, call again and have someone else work on it for you too!
  • I agree with Alex... very weird unless this guy has been flying under the radar for awhile. Maybe his habit is to use other peoples pics but sell a similar note?

The other seller responded to my message. He was very apologetic. It turns out he bought the $1 note from the same bank at the same auction and accidentally thought it was the $2. I'm glad it was just an honest mistake.
